This is a well-written article that analyzes fandom and how people will dress like a Star Wars character or Star Trek one in order to show homage to their favorite film. It talks about how people will dress up for a one day event like going to the opening of “Star Wars: Episode III---Revenge of the Sith” fans will put together elaborate costumes to show their fandom and dedication to the movies. It is an article that analyzes that people will do it to show their support even if it seems humiliating to the outside observer. She emphasizes that fans don’t care if they look cool or not since it’s about appreciating a movie. It is an in-depth analysis over why fans dress for a one-time event to show their appreciation of the films and series. She admires the people that dress up since they are not afraid to show their appreciation by dressing up as their favorite characters. Fans dressing up as their favorite characters shows that they believe in the stories and the characters making them more than just fans reading their favorite books or watching their favorite movie. They also wear their favorite clothes because it transports them into a time when they believe in the heroes and the mythology created around that universe. It is kind of like live action role playing since some fans will even take on the role of the character they dress up as which is what Givhan should include. It takes a look at fans who not just read the books and watch the movies, but of people who believe in the mythology created so much that they wind up dressing up as them too. The clothes identify the fans as more than just casual readers, but also ones who believe in the mythology so much they are willing to dress up as them to show their appreciation for those favorite characters. Some even go far as to learn the mythology thoroughly to the point where they memorize favorite saying, and little details that make the characters unique in the way they dress and act. Its really amazing since it explores an entire subculture that loves to dress up, and escape for a day. Wearing those clothes means they are not ordinary people, but the characters they portray. The picture it shows is Chewbacca a wookie from the planet Kashyyyk and is always by Han Solo’s side. She calls it a fantasy world, and, that it’s not practical to wear for everyday use. It is the fantasy the characters create that make them want to dress up as their favorite characters, and that is why people dress up. It is the escape a fantasy world can create, and it shows how fans can be so enraptured by a fantasy life that they dress up as a character for a day that is why people dress up in the first place.
The director of the movie is going for the child like look of a Geisha. He called them the supermodels of their time. They created to look more high fashion, and the necks are created lower than the original ones, and the waists are tighter too. Their eyes are bigger and darker, and their lips are fuller so it can draw a more modern crowd. They also wear less make up for some of the scenes. It needed to be more modern but provocative, and subtle showing just a glimpse of skin to tease the senses. They shape the dresses to match the characters style. They made the dresses to look like an impression of that time, and it really resembles the look of the Japanese culture since the dresses have the symbols of the Japanese culture drawn into the dress. They chose big bright colors since it screams sensual. They leave just a part of the neck bare to tease the audience so they will wonder what is underneath. They are authentic kimonos some have cherry red, white snow, and greys thrown into the fabric. The kimono is worn in 5 layers for a Geisha, and it takes two people to put on the outfit. The Kimono makes a Geisha learn to act elegantly and their movement is restricted by it. There are even undergarments underneath the actual gown. They are well covered up underneath the reds, pinks, and whites. The younger Geisha’s wear red and the older ones wear white. They wore an Obie which is like a corset underneath the gown. Wax is used during the process of styling their hair do to prevent it from falling out of place. The way the outfit is worn depends on the person wearing the gown since they wear it in different ways. The costumes reflect the Geisha’s personality, and some are more brightly colored then the others. They made several differences to the gowns to make it appeal to the modern crowd, and updated the style. Each costume is crafted to reflect the personality of the character wearing it. The director wanted to make it more appealing to the crowd by changing it to reflect how subtle and sexy the gowns are to make them more high fashion. The costumes are nicely done, and they truly show the Japanese cultures style and fashion with a more modern twist.

School has started back up again, and was excited to be back since I’m not taking a math course again. This semester it is History of the Andes which seems interesting since I need history courses in order to build details for my stories. Economics it was a required elective, but I need to be an informed consumer. I was excited about Journalism since that is the field that is my passion, and this is the last general education semester. Then its straight into my major. The other writing related course I’m taking is Fashion Writing, and I need it because I want to describe what a character is wearing more than just saying a shirt and blue jeans. I want to become a better writer, and these classes will help me achieve it. It’s exciting, and my blog will be used in my fashion writing class, and you’ll see how my writing evolves over this semester. I’m finally in my element now, and I can’t wait to dig into it. Of course, I will still be writing and publishing along the way too. Like I’m waiting for two more beta readers to finish with The Killer Contract Agency story a few more times to run through it, and then all I need is the cover to hit publish. It’s going to be an exciting semester, and so are the ones to come when I can say I’m officially a journalist. It’s exciting, and I can’t wait.
Until next time,

Novel writing is not easy by any means, and with self-publishing just about anyone can become a writer. Works can be published without any effort which isn’t good for people who actually can write a novel. It’s hard to write since it mainly requires butt to chair action, and sometimes more brain power then you have the energy for especially if you go to school, or work a day job. Good work takes time and even other people to look over it. That is another story though, and I will write a post about the entire process and how I write them. In the meantime here is how not to write a novel. Or maybe it should read doing everything but writing a novel!
· Check email: You never know if a very important email from an editor or beta reader has come in. Just check every 5 seconds and keep hitting the refresh key constantly.
· Check Twitter and updates status to: Writing a novel but in the mean time researching shirtless models for the next cover.
· Eat after all you’re brain cannot work without something powering it.
· Yell at your smartphone since a wrong number has called for the 1,000 time for someone who has a claim on them. It’s a recording too bad they cannot hear you…
· Watch time tick by every minute while you’re waiting for calls from family or friends.
· Check blogs after all how the hell do other writers write novels when you can’t even sit for an hour….
· Get another cup of coffee, wine, whisky, liquor, vodka, or energy drink to get the blood flowing or to relax you need it after trying to focus on a sentence for an hour.
· Hit head against the wall to loosen the ideas from your brain.
· Shower maybe it will help you figure out this next sentence…
· Check Facebook yet again to see what fun things your friends are up to, and things to use in stories…
· Stare at the computer screen until inspiration strikes…
· Smoke a cigarette if you do as a way of taking a break.
· Walk the dog maybe the neighborhood can give you more ideas…
· While walking the dog you spot a house, and spend the rest of the time wondering if they keep bodies in the basement.
· Get one of the emails you’ve been waiting for and dance around when it says not bad just needs work. Yay! You’re not a failure.
· Delete old files off your phone, PC, and tablet since it is a new semester and year after all.
· Watch Youtube lets plays because video games are awesome, and who knows another story idea might pop up at any minute…
Okay, there are a lot of ways to procrastinate and not work on writing your novel. In the end the writers who stop procrastinating, and are determined to finish the novel of their dreams will learn how rewarding it is to finish something despite all the distractions stopping them.
Until next time,
